3D Poinsettia

Picture

Supplies:
Die-cut: Blooming Poinsettia die (Poppy Stamps) or similar die-cut
Accessories & Tools: Sponge, ink, mat, stylus, glue

Instructions:
Die-cut three poinsettias from red cardstock (photo 1)
Die-cut two centers from green cardstock (photo 1)

Tip: I find that sometimes there are threads of paper hanging off the edges of die-cut cardstock (or rough edges) and I use an emery board (cut in half lengthwise to get a slim “tool”) to sand off the rough edges. (photo 2)

Sponge the edges of each petal and the centers of each layer of flower before shaping and assembling for added dimension. (photo 3)

Shaping and assembling flowers:
Place three flowers upside-down on mat. Using the large end of the stylus, press down on the back of each petal of the three poinsettias. Turn the poinsettias right side up, and using the small end of the stylus, press down fairly hard in the very center of each flower (this will give the petals lots of dimension)

Glue the layers together: Add a small dot of glue to the center of the bottom layer. Place the second layer on top, making sure the petals are slightly off-set; press down on the center with stylus to adhere. Repeat with third layer, again adding only a small dot of glue to the center of the two layer flower, place the third layer on top, making sure the petals are off-set; press down on the center with stylus to adhere.

Make center: Place two die-cut centers on mat. Using small end of stylus, press down hard on the center of both die-cuts. Scrunch one up into a small bud. Place a small dab of glue in the center of the bottom layer, place the smaller bud on top; press down hard with the small end of the stylus to adhere.

Add a small dot of glue to the center of the three-layer flower and place the green center on top; press down to adhere.

Optional: To add glitter to a poinsettia, brush glitter glue onto the flowers and centers. Let the glitter glue dry completely before shaping and assembling flowers.
