HLS February CAS Challenge

Hi everyone.  Time for the next CAS challenge.  Whew!  January just flew by! :)  Thanks to all who entered our very first CAS challenge --- we are thrilled to have had 108 entries!!

Check out the sketch challenge post for the name of the randomly drawn winner of the prize pack for those that entered at both the HLS Blog and HLS Forum.  The winner of the January CAS Challenge will be posted later as I am recovering from some surgery. Stay tuned!

Here's our new challenge ...

There are a few different ways to emboss ... dry embossing, heat embossing, embossing paste.  But there are several variations for each of the three ways and there is bound to be some that you LOVE to do.  So join in the fun, incorporate some sort of embossing on your CAS card and link up below to join the challenge.

At Happy Little Stampers, CAS is defined as:  clean and simple design with one main focal point, lots of white (or open) space, and minimal layers and embellishments.

We would love for your to share which embossing technique you used on your card and any tips and tricks you've learned along the way.  Sharing is fun! :)

Here are embossed cards from our Guest Designer, Kathy K (Purple Princess Diaries), Kylie and me.  We hope we inspire you to join in the fun and play along.

The card above uses card stock and snippets for layering, a homemade acetate stencil, gesso and distress inks for the background with embossing paste and stencils for the sparkle and glitter.

The card above uses different coloured embossing powders which are heat set to merge into each other

This card uses an embossing folder for the background, and four different dies for the tag.

I spent quite a bit of time looking through YouTube for interesting embossing videos ... have a look and maybe give one of them a try! :)

Come and join the fun and link up your Embossed CAS card below.

As an added bonus, for those that also link up their cards at the Happy Little Stampers Forum, your name is automatically entered into a random draw for a prize pack.  Come play along for a chance to win!

  2. All 3 of your DT samples are so beautiful, creative. Love all your different embossing techniques. I can't wait to play. Kathy and Kylie, your backgrounds are so vibrant and gorgeous. I have never thought to use different colors of eb powder for a very artsy background. Your background Kathy is stunning too. Loll, I have the On Point embossing folder, but have always turned it over for a tree look. Love your geometric look and sweet, sunny stitched tags:-) Gosh, can you girls tell I Love your cards. TFS
