HLS June CAS Challenge

Hi everyone.  Today is the start of the June CAS Challenge here at Happy Little Stampers. Before we get to the new challenge, Kylie and I wanted to thank everyone who participated in our Die-cut challenge last month.  We had over 230 entries --- WOW!!  We enjoyed visiting each and every one of you and looking at your amazing creations.  The winners will be announced here next week.

If you'd like an overall view of the awesome cards from last month, click HERE to see the Pinterest Board we've created for the May Die-cut entries.

And we want to thank those that were interested in joining our CAS Design Team.  There were 32 entries for the team ... another WOW!! :)  Kylie and I will be announcing the new CAS Design Team members shortly.  Thanks to everyone who applied.

Here's our new challenge ...

There are lots of ways to use sprays and mists on cards.  You can use ink sprays like Dylusions, Color Wash Sprays, Glimmer Mist, etc.  Or you can make your own sprays by mixing water with either re-inkers, shimmer paint, or watercolour concentrate, etc.  Or if you don't have any sprays and aren't interested in making your own, there are many wonderful techniques that use water misters ... like Smooshing, Saturated Watercolouring, Acrylic Block Technique and Stencil Monoprint, just to name a few.  You can also sponge card stock with water-based ink and then mist with water to create droplets.

We hope you'll pull out your sprays and mists, create a CAS card, and join us for some fun!

At Happy Little Stampers, CAS  (clean and simple) is defined as:

- one main focal point
- lots of white or open (no pattern) space
- minimal layers
- minimal embellishments

This month we are excited to have Chrissie (Simply One of a Kind) as our Guest Designer.
Welcome Chrissie!

Here are the CAS Sprays / Mists cards for this week ...

Chrissie - Guest Designer

Background was created by swiping inks across crumbled paper, spraying with water.  Once dry, it was sprayed again with shimmer mist.

Loll

Background is made with three different colours of watercolour sprays.  A stencil was placed over top and misted with water, then dabbed with a paper towel to remove the water and colour (Ghosting Technique).
